World’s Largest Organization of Grain-Based Food Professionals Unveils New, Enhanced Website

(April 15, 2002, St. Paul, MN) As experts in grain-based food science and technology, the American Association of Cereal Chemists (AACC) generates a lot of information. Now, with its newly enhanced website, they hope to make that information more readily available to members and nonmembers alike. The newly expanded AACC website just moved to its new location at www.aaccnet.org with added features and easier access to its wealth of information. Users who visit the old location will find a link redirecting them to the new location.

“We consider our website to be a significant member benefit,” says Steve Kronmiller, AACC Media Development Manager and overseer of the site’s redesign. “But it’s also a resource for nonmembers so our focus was on providing access to information quickly and easily.” Kronmiller says the newly enhanced site will feature news and information on the Association’s activities directly from the homepage so people can see at a glance what’s happening. Finding other information and resources will be faster and easier too with cascading menus that show the entire contents of each area.

Other changes include the addition of a permanent link to the monthly feature articles from AACC’s premier journal, Cereal Chemistry, along with a “Grain Bin” section that will house all past reports and special features that have appeared on the site. Kronmiller says members and nonmembers alike will now be able to access the table of contents for the widely used AACC Methods of Analysis along with the abstracts for the individual methods themselves. Cereal Chemistry abstracts too, once available only to subscribers, will also become searchable for all users. Access to full text articles still requires an online subscription.

More changes are planned over the coming months, says Kronmiller, including the addition of an all-site search feature for both current and archived information along with more sophisticated search options for technical and scientific material. The site’s interactive capabilities will also be substantially improved and users will be able to purchase AACC books, register for meetings, renew their membership, and even join online.

AACC is a worldwide organization of cereal and food science professionals working in the grain-based foods field and/or studying cereal grains and their products. AACC works to advance cereal science and related technologies; create, interpret and disseminate the latest cereals information; and provide personal and professional development opportunities for grain-based food professionals. AACC has offices in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA and Leuven, Belgium. AACC website: www.aaccnet.org.
