AACC International Announces Analytical Accuracy Award Winners

St. Paul, Minn. (August 26, 2005) – Winners of AACC International’s Analytical Accuracy awards, based on 2004 check sample results, have been announced. A list of awardees is available on the AACC International Check Sample website.

This is the seventh such set of awards to be made since the AACC International Check Sample Committee approved it seven years ago. All subscribers to the various AACC International check sample series that include a proficiency testing option are eligible, whether or not they have elected the option, provided they have met the requirements for submission of results for the year involved. For each series, the award is made to the laboratory submitting the most accurate analyses. The statistical procedures used to select awardees are the same as those used to evaluate proficiency for other purposes.

Any subscriber participating in an AACC International check samples series has the option to participate in the proficiency testing service. In addition to regularly comparing check sample results with those of other laboratories or analysts on a confidential coded basis, proficiency subscribers receive periodic quantitative estimates of accuracy via special reports that would accompany each monthly, bimonthly, or quarterly report of analytical results. If warranted, an annual certificate suitable for framing and display will be issued.
