AACC Creates New Online Dietary Definitions Resource, Media Center

St. Paul, Minn. (December 3, 2003) — The American Association of Cereal Chemists (AACC) has created two new online resources designed to provide information on current research and breaking industry and association news.

All of AACC’s industry-approved dietary definitions and supporting documents can now be found in one central area at www.aaccnet.org/definitions. Currently, three AACC definitions are available—AACC’s definition of dietary fiber, whole grain, and oat bran. More definitions will be added as they develop.

AACC’s media center, found at www.aaccnet.org/news, contains AACC’s latest news releases, the most recent industry company news, industry people news, association news and events, as well as a sign-up page for news releases.

"The development of these two additions to our website is just another example of how AACC is proactively meeting the ever increasing need for information on the work done by our members and the association as a whole," said AACC President Jim Dexter. According to Dexter, recent topics of interest have included the detection and study of acrylamides in fried or baked carbohydrate-rich foods and the use and detection of genetically modified corn. "We want to be the resource that government agencies, news media, and our members look to for the latest information this dynamic field," Dexter said.

The American Association of Cereal Chemists (AACC) is an international organization of 3,000 grain scientists and other professionals who study the chemistry of cereal grains and their products or work in related fields.
