For immediate release Contact: Amanda Aranowski AACC International Installs New Board Members
St. Paul, Minn. (October 17, 2007) — AACC International installed its new leadership at the conclusion of the association’s annual meeting held October 7-10, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas. Mary Ellen Camire, new president-elect, is a professor in the University of Maine’s Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition. A member of AACC International for 19 years, she currently serves on the Board of Directors and Finance Committee and has chaired the Nutrition Division as well as membership and book committees. As a member of the Dietary Fiber and Starch Technical Committee, Camire participated in several collaborative studies and has been a member of the Dietary Fiber Definition Committee. She was a member of the Barley Technical Committee, Publications Panel, and Publications Task Force and has served as a Cereal Chemistry associate editor. Maureen Olewnik, new director, is vice president of Audit and Technical Services at AIB International. A member since 1981, Olewnik has served as an associate editor for Cereal Chemistry, secretary and chair of the AACC International Milling and Baking Division, Check Sample Committee chair, and secretary, treasurer, program chair, and section chair of the AACC International Manhattan Section. Sergio O. Serna Saldivar, newly appointed director, is a professor in the Food Science and Technology Department of the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) in Mexico. He currently serves on the International Executive Council and the Excellence in Teaching Award Committee and has served on the Cereal Chemistry Editorial Board. Bernard Bruinsma began his term as AACC International president at the conclusion of the annual meeting. Bruinsma is the technical director for Innovative Cereal Systems (ICS). He has been an active member of AACC International for more than 30 years. He has served as an editor for Cereal Chemistry and AACC International secretary, has been active in the Pacific Northwest Section, has been a contributor to CEREAL FOODS WORLD, and a member of the Nomination Committee and several technical committees. Other members of the 2007-2008 board include: Rob Hamer, Chair of the Board; Laura Hansen, treasurer; Margaret Bath, director; Jan Delcour, director; Elizabeth Knight, director; and Moses Okot-Kotber, director.
