For immediate release Contact: Amanda Aranowski AACC International Installs New Board MembersSt. Paul, Minn. (October 5, 2006) — AACC International installed its new leadership at the conclusion of the World Grains Summit, held in San Francisco, Calif., September 17-20, 2006. Bernard L. Bruinsma, new president-elect, is the technical director for Innovative Cereal Systems (ICS). Bruinsma has been an active member of AACC International for more than 30 years. He has served as an editor for Cereal Chemistry and AACC International secretary, has been active in the Pacific Northwest Section, has been a contributor to CEREAL FOODS WORLD, and a member of the Nomination Committee and several technical committees. Jan Delcour, new director, is a professor at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Leuven, Belgium. Delcour is a member of the Carbohydrate Division and serves on a number of committees. He chaired the Technical Program and Program Advisory Committees and currently chairs the Publications Task Force and the Young Scientists Research Award. From 2000-2005, he has served as associate and senior editor of Cereal Chemistry. He is a member of the Excellence in Teaching Award Committee and the Scientific Advisory Panel. Margaret Bath, newly appointed director, is vice president, research, quality and technology at Kellogg Company. At Kellogg, Bath previously held positions of director, global product development and vice president, snacking research and technology for Kellogg’s Snacks Division. Prior to joining Kellogg, Bath was employed by Frito Lay in Plano, Texas. Robert Hamer began his term as AACC International president at the conclusion of the World Grains Summit. Hamer is director of the Structure and Functionality Program for the Wageningen Centre for Food Sciences in Wageningen, The Netherlands. Hamer also is a professor of technology of cereal proteins at Wageningen University. Hamer has been an AACC International director, chair of the Protein Division, founder and president of the European Section, and associate editor of Cereal Chemistry. He currently is a member of the board of Cereals&Europe, a member of the Finance Committee, Applied Research Committee, and the Thomas Burr Osborne Medal Award Committee. He is the first AACC International president from outside North America. Other members of the 2006-2007 board include: Stuart Craig, Chair of the Board; Elizabeth Knight, treasurer; Mary Ellen Camire, director; Laura Hansen, director; Moses Okot-Kotber, director; and Jan Willem Van Der Kamp, international director.
AACC International is an organization of professionals who contribute to the research, development, and processing of grains and grain-based products.
