AACC International Installs New Board
St. Paul, Minn. (September 30, 2005) - AACC International (formerly the American Association of Cereal Chemists) is pleased to announce the newly elected officials for 2005-2006. The following leadership was installed at the conclusion of the AACC International Annual Meeting, held in Orlando, Florida, September 11-14, 2005.
Robert Hamer, new president-elect, is the director of the Structure and Functionality Program for the Wageningen Centre for Food Sciences in Wageningen, The Netherlands. He is also a professor of technology of cereal proteins at Wageningen University. Hamer has been an AACC International director, chair of the Protein Division, the founder and president of the European Section, and associate editor of Cereal Chemistry. He currently is a member of the board of Cereals&Europe, the co-chair of the International Executive Council, and a member of the Thomas Burr Osborne Medal Award Committee. Says Hamer of AACC International, "It is like a mosaic. This diversity has enormous potential: each member is a source of expertise and information and, thus, is able to bring solutions to challenges faced by the worldwide cereals community." He is the first AACC International president-elect from outside North America.
Laura Hansen, new director, is a senior technology manager for General Mills Bakeries and Foodservice. She has served on the Nominations Committee, and as annual program technical chair, AACC International secretary, and Rheology Division secretary, chair, and chair-elect. Hansen has taught sections of the short course on Rheology and Baked Product Texture.
Moses Okot-Kotber, newly appointed director, is director of Analytix Laboratories, a newly formed contract research and analytical laboratory based in Manhattan, Kansas. He has held offices in the Protein Division and is the current chair of that division. He has also been a member of the Biotechnology Division.
Stuart Craig, the scientific and regulatory affairs manager for Danisco USA Inc., began his term as AACC International president at the conclusion of the AACC International annual meeting.
Other members of the 2005-2006 board include: George Lookhart, Chair of the Board; Elizabeth Knight, treasurer; Mary Ellen Camire, director; Khalil Khan, director; Sakharam Patil, director; and Jan Willem Van Der Kamp, international director.
AACC International is an organization of professionals who contribute to the research, development, and processing of grains and grain-based products.
