Association of Cereal Chemists Installs New Board
St. Paul, Minn. (September 7,
2004) — The American Association of Cereal Chemists (AACC) is pleased to
announce the newly elected officials for 2004-2005. The following AACC
leadership will be installed at the conclusion of the AACC Annual
Meeting, held jointly with the Tortilla Industry Association this year,
in San Diego, California, September 19-22, 2004.
Stuart Craig, new president-elect, is the scientific and regulatory
affairs manager for Danisco USA Inc. Craig has been an AACC director,
annual meeting technical program chair, chair of the Carbohydrate
Division, and chair of the Emerging and Priority Issues Committee. Craig
was a member of the Dietary Fiber Definition Committee that established
AACC leadership on this topic. He currently serves on the Dietary Fiber
and Starch Technical Committee and the Scientific Advisory Panel.
Jan Van der Kamp, new international director, is program director of TNO
Nutrition and Food Research in Zeist, Netherlands. He is responsible for
initiating and reviewing major research programs and strengthening
industrial links. As a member of AACC since 1986, van der Kamp has
lectured in and chaired numerous symposia at AACC Annual Meetings and
several biotechnology symposia. He has served on the AACC Book Committee
and in the Biotechnology Division and is a member of the AACC
International Committee.
Mary Ellen Camire, newly appointed AACC director, is a professor in the
Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at the University of
Maine and director of the Consumer Testing Center. Camire is chair of
the AACC Book Acquisitions Committee, and a member of the Publications
Panel and of the Dietary Fiber and Starch and Barley and Barley Products
technical committees.
George Lookhart, a research chemist with the U.S. Department of
Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service at the Grain Marketing and
Production Research Center in Manhattan, KS, will begin his term as AACC
president at the conclusion of the AACC annual meeting.
Other members of the 2004-2005 board include: James Dexter, chair of the
board; Elizabeth Knight, treasurer; Filip Arnaut, director; Khalil Khan,
director; Sakharam Patil, director; and Virgil Smail, director.
AACC is an international organization of 3,000 professionals who
contribute to the research, development, and processing of grains and
grain-based products.
