Kaisa Poutanen

 

Kaisa Poutanen is DSc (Tech) from  Helsinki University of Technology and  invited honorary doctor in food sciences at University of Helsinki. She works as Research Professor in food technology at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, and has extensive track record in connecting food technology and nutrition sciences. Her research has focused on development of healthy palatable plant based foods and concepts, especially bioprocessing of cereals and physiological effects of grain fibre complex. She has coordinated many international multidisciplinary consortia, including the large European project Healthgrain, and was founder of Healthgrain Forum.  She currently leads the strategic focus area “Food Economy 4.0” at VTT, with the aim to transform the food chain towards a smart consumer-centric food production system by developing new ingredient and food concepts, agile processing and nutrition service innovations.
