From Fred Hegele, 1999 President of AACC

Dear AACC Members and Colleagues in the Food Industry,

Are you looking for a NEW, IMPROVED AACC Annual Meeting? Are you interested in having live dialogue with leading international presenters at the 1999 AACC Annual Meeting? Do you believe that 'innovation' is the key to your career success?

It's time to start planning for your journey to Seattle for the 84th Annual Meeting, October 31-November 3, at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center. Our theme is "The Innovative World of Cereal Grains" and you can expect some exciting improvements to the form and content of this year's four-day event.

Under the direction of Dr. William Mason, the technical program is packed with dynamic symposia and thought-provoking technical sessions, interactive posters and an impressive New Products and Services session. The Osborne Medal Address, by longtime AACC member Dr. Jerold Bietz, promises to be a highlight of the program, and a hands-on closing session on creative thinking will cap off three days of unique and varied programs. Also, for the first time ever, the meeting will conclude with a gala farewell reception at our headquarters hotel, the Sheraton Seattle.

The Table-Top exhibits open at 4:30 pm on Sunday, and once again, you can enjoy hors d'oeuvres and beverages while getting your first look at the newest in products and services for the food industry. The AACC Marketplace will feature an "events" area with opportunities to learn more about AACC, while participating in activities and prize drawings. The Silent Auction is also located in the Marketplace, and will be open during all exhibit hours. You can place your bids for some great merchandise, and benefit the AACC Foundation and Student Division at the same time.

Seattle has much to offer meeting attendees in the way of fine dining, sightseeing, shopping and culture. For those attendees interested in extending their trip in Seattle or beyond, our official hotels are offering special rates after the meeting, as is the extraordinary Empress Hotel in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

Plan to bring your spouse, friend or significant other. We have planned an exciting Guest Program that makes the most of Seattle's unique activities and beautiful scenery.

With so much to do and see in addition to an outstanding Technical Program, you'll want to make plans now to attend the 84th AACC Annual Meeting. We look forward to seeing you in Seattle!

Sincerely,

Fred Hegele
AACC President
