Evaluating a qualitative method.
T. C. NELSEN. USDA-ARS-MWA, Peoria, IL.

An Operating Characteristic (OC) curve is used to evaluate the performance of a qualitative (+/-) analytical method. The OC curve is used to estimate false positive or false negative responses at different concentrations of an analyte. Examples are presented of building and using an OC curve. Examples are presented of the most efficient designs of collaborative studies for determining useful OC curves.
