AACC International Cecil F. Pinney Travel Award
Established in 2009, the AACC International Foundation Cecil F. Pinney Travel Award is presented to an individual establishing a career in grain science and technology. An emphasis on encouraging the involvement of the next generation of grain scientists is essential to AACC International’s mission. The Cecil F. Pinney Travel Award is a travel grant for professionals to attend the AACC Intl. Annual Meeting. The candidate for the award must be an AACC Intl. member interested in some aspect of grain science and technology. This award is for new professionals who have been in their career less than eight years as of March 1 of the year of application. The candidate can apply for the travel award or can be nominated. The application process consists of an application form, nomination letter (or letter of context if self nominating), and the candidate’s resume. Achievements and participation in AACC Intl. activities will be considered in relation to the age and experience of the candidate.
The award will be considered a travel grant in which the recipient must attend the AACC Intl. Annual Meeting in the year of the award. Up to two $750 awards are available. In addition, a one-year membership to the division of the recipient’s choice will be awarded to the recipient(s). The registration fee to the annual meeting will be waived, as well as admission to a division function at the annual meeting. Previous Cecil F. Pinney Travel Award recipients are eligible to apply for future awards, but they are limited to receiving this award three times within the eight-year time frame. To be considered for future awards, applicants must submit a new application each year. If an award has been made to a candidate, but the candidate cannot attend the meeting, the candidate will not receive the benefits of the award. The candidate can re-apply the following year provided that they meet the eligibility criteria.
The deadline for the receipt of 2012 applications is March 1, 2012.
