Staff Scientist/Scientist, Kemin Agrifoods North America – Research & Development Des Moines, IA
Overall Function: The incumbent is responsible for the execution of innovative research projects pertaining to the development of new and existing products as related to business and economical goals.
Job Responsibilities: To prioritize activities of assigned projects and assume responsibility for their success; lead projects in compliance with the Product Innovation Process. Interact with customers, field sales, technical service and product managers to address technical questions and provide alternatives. Write and review various documents, for both internal and external publication as appropriate to positively affect the direction of the R&D Department
Qualifications & Experience: Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Food Science, Animal Science or comparable discipline. Up to three years experience and proven accomplishments in technology development, process application research or product development research highly desired. Experience in the areas of protein, fat, and carbohydrate (non-starch polysaccharides) chemistry. Experience should include hands on knowledge of enzyme functionality and kinetics, substrate specificity and optimal performance parameters such as pH and temperature in a physiological environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills with a minimal English proficiency level of Intermediate High as defined in the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines
Working Conditions: The Associate Scientist is based at Kemin Industries with headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa. The position is considered 40 hours per week but requires flexibility and reports to the Director of Research & Development
