BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

Salary Range of $30,772 to $44,589 per annum
This position is located in the USDA-ARS Cereal Crops Research Unit on the campus of North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND. Incumbent will provide technical support in basic and applied research on the quality of hard spring and durum wheats. Major Duties will include, but are not limited to: 1) Performs a variety of complex analyses of biochemical components of cereal grains such as protein, carbohydrates, lipids, and enzymes using sophisticated analytical instruments; 2) Conducts complex laboratory experiments pertaining to quality evaluation of cereal grains; 3) Maintains precise and detailed records of experimental conditions and data, compiles and analyzes data using various computer software packages; prepares reports as required; 4) Adapts, modifies, or develops new techniques and/or procedures when necessary to meet the objectives of the research project; 4) Operates, calibrates, and maintains specialized laboratory equipment; 5) Purchases, maintains, organizes, and monitors inventory of laboratory supplies and chemical reagents; 6) Dispose of waste material (both chemical and biological) safely and keep lab clean and in an orderly manner; and 7) Interacts and cooperates with other technicians, postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate students in the lab as well as those in other collaborating labs.
