The 2007 AACC International Annual Meeting will attract more than 1,500 world-wide attendees within the grain-based food industry to participate in a high energy science exchange. Technical sessions, emerging issues, special events, and networking offer something for everyone. Take advantage of the student-oriented opportunities while networking for your future. Will you be there?

Top 5 Reasons for a Student to Attend the 2007 AACC International Annual Meeting:

1. Advance your career and meet your future employer. Attendees hold key technical and upper managerial positions with VP titles and work for major food companies, including: ADM, Barilla, Campbell Soup, Cargill, ConAgra, Frito Lay, General Mills, Hershey Corp., Kellogg, Kraft Foods, The Kroger Co., Malt-O-Meal, McDonald’s Corp., Nestle, Procter & Gamble, The Quaker Oats Co., Riceland Foods Inc., Roman Meal Co., Sara Lee Bakery, The Schwan Food Co., and many more! You will find numerous opportunities to network and receive job market perspectives from the top executives in the industry.

2. Advance your professionalism. Discover the successful methods of others and participate in the Mentoring Kick-off Event. This event is for those who have signed up to participate in AACC International’s mentoring program from 2005-2007. Join other mentors and protégés during the Professional Development Panel’s 2007 Mentoring Program Event. Learn more about the benefits of the program and meet your mentor/protégé for the year. You can apply to be part of the program through August 1, 2007.

3. Advance your research. Student members of AACC International are invited to participate in the Student Product Development Competition by creating a new product containing at least one major cereal ingredient. Sign up by June 1, 2007, to take part, and submit your product report by July 5, 2007. The top five teams will be chosen by August 15, 2007, to participate in the poster, oral, and product sampling sessions at the annual meeting. Cash prizes will be given for the top three teams, with travel grants to all five teams who present. For a complete copy of the competition rules and criteria, contact Supriya Varma at supriyav@eden.rutgers.edu or visit the Student Division website.

4. Advance your knowledge. Focused opportunities offer you practical knowledge and applications by interacting with the worldwide grain-based science community. From the session tracks containing symposia and technical sessions to the general and plenary sessions featuring experts in the industry, this year’s meeting is the place where it all comes together. Cutting-edge knowledge and insight at a more intimate regional level make participation a must!

5. Advance your science. Where else will you be given countless opportunities to help set the precedent in grain-based technology? You will leave the meeting with a broader knowledge gained from an exceptional quality of symposium topics and discussions and a better preparedness to assess the progress you are making with your research and development.
