Why Students Need to Attend the Annual Meeting

We have set the stage for the most rewarding Annual Meeting experience ever! The 2007 AACC International Annual Meeting will attract more than 1,500 world-wide attendees within the grain-based food industry to participate in a high energy science exchange. Technical sessions, emerging issues, field trips, special events, and networking offer something for everyone. Take advantage of the student-oriented opportunities while networking for your future.

5 “Can’t Miss” Student Events at the Meeting

1. Student Product Development Competition. Join your fellow student members of AACC International and attend this fun event. Six teams were chosen and asked to participate in the poster, oral and product sampling sessions at the annual meeting. Cash prizes will be given for the top three teams, with travel grants to all six teams who present. Presentations are held on Monday, October 8, 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., with posters being viewed that day 1:00–5:00 p.m.

2. Student Division Dinner and Social. Join your colleagues along with other students and professionals from AACC International on Monday, October 8, 7:00-11:00 p.m. for a exciting evening of dining and networking.

3. Student Division Business Meeting and Travel Awards. Get an update on current opportunities and activities for student members on Monday, October 8, 3:00–4:30 p.m. Come and ask questions of professionals. The program will conclude with the presentation of the Travel Awards.

4. Mentoring Kick-off Event. Join other mentors and protégés during the Professional Development Panel’s 2007 Mentoring Program Event. Learn more about the benefits of the program and meet your mentor/protégé for the year. Monday, October 8 from 7:00-8:00 p.m.. This event is for those who have already signed up to participate in AACC International’s mentoring program.

5. Student Division Executive Committee and University Representative Meeting. Interested in becoming more active in the student division or just looking to share your ideas? A review of the year’s activities and planning for next year will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2:30-3:30 p.m.. Members of the Executive Committee, University and Division Representatives should attend the meeting.

Register for the meeting by September 17, 2007 at the rate of only $190! Full registration includes all sessions, posters, exhibits and lunch in exhibit hall, and the Grand Opening Exhibition.
