General Information
This organization within AACC International was formed in 1990 for members who have an interest in Engineering and Processing.
Mission of the Engineering and Processing Division
- Represent AACC International members who have an interest in the application of engineering and processing principles in cereal science.
- Provide educational opportunities to enhance cereal science via engineering and processing principles.
- Provide avenues of communication between AACC International and engineering societies.
- Encourage closer cooperation and communication.
What does the Engineering and Processing Division Do?
- The division presents a symposium at the AACC International Annual Meeting where invited engineers speak on pertinent topics and current issues relating to engineering. The division sponsored its first symposium in 1991.
- Various awards are sponsored to recognize scientists and students working in the area of engineering and processing.
Awards offered by the Engineering and Processing Division
The Stanley Watson Award, established in 2001, is named in honor
of an early corn wet-milling pioneer who started his research at the USDA
during the early 1940s. Watson made substantial contributions in the
improvement of the wet-milling process. The award recognizes outstanding
AACC International members who, through the application of engineering
principles, have made significant contributions in the area of cereal/grain
processing. The award is presented biennially..
Nominations for the 2010 award are due June 1, 2010 for the AACC
Intl. Engineering and Processing Division Stanley Watson Award
Nominations must include (1) Name of Nominee, (2) Position, (3) Complete
Address and Contact Info, (4) Area of Research, and (5) a Nominating
Statement detailing the nominee's significant contributions in the area of
cereal/grain processing via application of engineering principles.

Who are the Members of the Engineering and Processing Division?
Any dues-paying member of AACC International is eligible for membership in the Division. AACC
International professional, student, and life members are all welcome as division members.
How do I become a Member?
Division dues are $15 for regular members and $5 for students per calendar year. They are collected along with the AACC
International membership dues.
