New Dietary Fiber Method Now Online
The new AACC Intl. Method 32-50.01, for the measurement of dietary fiber, as defined by the Codex Alimentarius Commission is now published in the 11th Edition online. It is based on the principles of previous AACC Intl. Approved Methods and extends the capabilities of AACC Intl. Method 32-45.01. This new method quantitates the complete range of water-insoluble and water-soluble fractions of dietary fiber components from resistant starch to digestion-resistant oligosaccharides in plant materials, foods, and food ingredients (including naturally occurring, isolated, modified, and synthetic polymers). It was developed by the members of the Dietary Fiber and Other Carbohydrates Technical Committee and approved by a vote of the AACC Intl. Approved Methods Technical Committee in the fourth quarter of 2011. This comprehensive method is accompanied by an article which describes the collaborative study.
